I washed my car for the first time on Thursday. Wasn’t the greatest decision because it proceeded to rain the following days, and I drove through grass and dirt. However, it was a much-needed routine cleaning.
I first started by vacuuming the inside with our shop vac. I know that it’s usual to do that last, but I don’t really care. Maybe I’m just quirky ( I like that word, and we should use it more). Anyway, I vacuumed out the entire inside, hitting all the little crevices like an anteater in the process. The bloody extension cable, which I used for the shop vac, kept getting stuck under the wheels of my car. This lowkey limited my mobility, but you know I got the job done anyway.
I then wiped the interior. I don’t got much to say for this. Maybe all the time I spent wiping down dirty tables at work prepped me for this moment; probably not, though.
After that, I started on the actual car wash. I rinsed the entire biddy down. I then grabbed my rag thingy and hand-washed the biddy. I followed this up with another rinse. Following that, I started on the rims and tires. My dad used to utilize my brothers' and my small hands for this task when we were younger. I didn’t know it then, but he had us out there posted up like Oliver Twist or some other Victorian-era underpaid factory chillun. When we used to wash his rims when we were younger, my dad would always tell us it was never good enough; then he would proceed to wash them all over again himself or make us do it again. Although my hands ain’t as small as they used to be, my previous experiences helped me get the job done. Once done, I rinsed the wheels and called it a day.
As I write this, I feel like I’m romanticizing the events of a simple car wash. From reading this, I probably come off as if I’ve never lifted a finger in my life or that this was some eye-opening experience. It wasn’t, though. I lowkey just felt the need to document this experience because it was my first time washing a vehicle that I frequent as the sole driver.
Also, I forgot to mention that I wiped the car down with dry towels after I rinsed it.
